We might have to wait a little bit longer until we see fully autonomous vehicles, but Tesla has made incredible strides towards this goal this week, when it released its new software that will allow both hands and feet free driving.
Though it will only be available for around 50,000 new Model S cars worldwide, the revolutionary technology will allow the car to navigate stop and go traffic and park itself. Currently drivers are required to touch the wheel every 10 seconds, but Tesla believes that it we are not too far from seeing a completely hands free experience.
“We’re being especially cautious at this early stage,” Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk said on Wednesday. “Over time there will not be a need to have their hands on the wheel.”
Until then, a few lucky people will be able to enjoy the next best thing.
