Snow and Ice In the South
January 11, 2011 | in The Daily Drive
Yesterday I was driving on the Eastex Freeway right by where the Astros play at Minutemaid Park and saw something you really do not see everyday here in Houston. It was either ice or snow which had been packed in someones tire housing, there plain as day, a big clump of the stuff. I am surprised it did not cause an accident, because we are just not used to seeing or driving around snow in the south.
The entire Southeast is currently blanketed in a cold and icy blanket of the stuff and I was wondering if maybe this was some snow from Louisiana?
DefensiveDriving.com, while based in Southeast Texas, realizes that not all people in Texas are not afforded the opportunity to exercise safe driving techniques in snow, in fact, a lot of people in Dallas, Amarillo, Texarkana, Tyler and most likely Dalhart, get the opportunity to drive in snow frequently. This is one of the reasons our online driver safety course includes information regarding safe driving techniques in snow and ice – we even cover it in our Florida traffic school course.
Folks throughout Alabama (congrats to the Auburn Tigers!), Louisiana, Georgia, North and South Carolina are driving with snow and ice right now … for them I offer the following video and a reminder to drive safe!
Remember, DefensiveDriving.com is not only for ticket dismissal … we can help you become a better driver, even when there is snow on the ground!
