Safe is Better than Sorry: Aggressive Drivers…
February 1, 2011 | in Rules of the Road: Driving TipsWe’ve all seen them on the road, and perhaps, some of us might even admit to being one of these: aggressive drivers. Without a doubt, aggressive driving has and continues to lead to accidents, and when confronted by aggressive drivers, it’s much better to be safe than sorry, but how are you supposed to stay safe when having to deal with aggressive drivers?
If an aggressive driver is bothering you on the road, it’s always important to keep yourself calm and collected. Responding to aggressive tactics, gestures, or other signals by the other driver is a recipe for disaster and should be avoided, and in general, if it’s possible, it’s just best to try to do everything possible to move safely out of the way of the aggressive driver.
If the aggressive driver is behaving dangerously, then it’s also a good idea to report the driver to the proper authorities, while being sure to include the description of the vehicle, license plate number, and direction in which the car was heading. Reporting dangerous driving is a good thing and may prevent an accident from happening.
Without a doubt, avoiding aggressive drivers (if possible) is the preferred solution, but whether an aggressive driver can be avoided or not, it’s always important to make sure that you have your seat belt buckled and make every effort to move safely away from the aggressive driver when a safe opportunity arises. Safe is certainly better than sorry when dealing with aggressive drivers!
