Can I Take Defensive Driving In 2 States
September 26, 2018 | in Helping You Drive Safely, Weird LawsGood news for most drivers who have received tickets in multiple states, in most instances they are independent from each-other. This means that you can get a speeding ticket in 2 states and take defensive driving for each of them to get the tickets dismissed or the points reduced. There is a catch to this though; not all states offer defensive driving as a way to dismiss or lower your violation. For example, in states like Mississippi there is no option to dismiss your ticket with the course.
However, in most cases you’re in luck. For example if you got a ticket in Texas and Louisiana and met the criteria to take the defensive driving courses in each state, you’d be able to take each course independently without them affecting each other. This varies on a state-by-state basis, as well as the nature of your traffic violation, but it’s very much possible to take defensive driving in 2 states, and could even be completed at the same time. Although, if you’re getting tickets that frequently there are probably some other driving issues that you need to address.
DefensiveDriving.com offers courses for Texas, Florida and New Jersey if any of those states happen to be the one that you’ve gotten a ticket in.
