Government Plans to Make Self-Driving Cars Safer

The Department of Transportation released an in-depth document about how self-driving vehicle makers can make their technology safer.

“The federal government, rather than states, should be in charge of regulating self-driving cars since the vehicles are essentially controlled by software, not people,” said the Obama administration.

The proposed framework has recommended safety guidelines and regulations in order to make self-driving cars more reliable on the road. The guidelines focus on a variety of topics relating to autonomous cars, including Data Recording and Sharing to Ethical Considerations.

These recommendations hope to push forward the technology and eventually have these self-driving cars on the road, which will help create safer driving and less traffic on the roads.
