Christmas is a great time of year for a number of reasons, but one of the best of all is the volume of special Christmas-themed movies that we have to choose from when looking for something to watch each year. Being an online traffic school, we thought we’d pick out some of the best Christmas movies with a travel theme.
i’ll be home for christmas
Everyone’s ‘90s crush Jonathan Taylor Thomas stars in this 1998 film about a college student trying to get home in time for Christmas so that he can have his Dad’s Porsche. Hijinks ensue!
home alone 2
The sequel to the classic holiday movie takes place–despite what you may infer from the title–not at home, but in New York, after Kevin is separated from his family at the airport and ends up in the wrong city.
the polar express
Tom Hanks plays just about every character in this animated reimagining of the classic children’s book, The Polar Express. One for all the family, especially if you are a fan of magical train rides.
elf
This movie became an instant classic, and millions of people still enjoy watching Will Ferrell play the grown human man who believes that he is an elf–probably because smiling’s their favorite.
the holiday
For a more romantically inclined travel-themed Christmas movie, The Holiday is always a great choice. It’s based around a story of two women who swap houses for a week over Christmas.
National lampoon’s christmas vacation
Ok, this one doesn’t technically count as a “travel-themed” movie, since the characters spend most of their time at home. However, we couldn’t leave it off of the list, simply because of that hilarious opening scene. Watch it, and enjoy (but beware, there is a slightly indecent hand gesture in this clip)!
