Four of the Best Roadtrips to Take This Summer…
June 18, 2013 | in Defensive Driving TipsRoad trips are the epitome of a summertime vacation. With the sunshine on high alert, there is no better time of year to cruise the roadways of the country. Road trips will not only allow you to explore unvisited parts of the US, but they will also give your family some bonding time that just can’t be replicated by flying to some tropical island. Not sure where to go? Here are a few ideas to get you started.
California Love
With its gorgeous coastline and famous wine countries, California was made for road trips. You can make this road trip as long or as short as you want. An easy excursion would be from San Francisco down to Los Angeles on the Pacific Coast Highway. If you have some extra time, you can continue to San Diego. The entire drive is full of masterpieces of nature for you to enjoy.
Four Corners and Beyond
It doesn’t matter where you are coming from for this little adventure, but your first stop should be the Four Corners (where Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona all meet). It is the only place in the country you can stand in four states at one time, so get the camera ready. Next, you can make a stop at one of the Seven Wonders of the World, The Grand Canyon. Depending on your time allotment, you may even want to take a quick hike where the view will take your breath away. Right around the corner you will find Las Vegas, where you can enjoy unique experiences for every member of your family.
Take it South
If you are looking more for a southern adventure, start out in Dallas, Texas. From there, you can continue on to New Orleans and soak in some authentic southern culture. Next, head over to Florida for a tropical escape. If you are feeling up for it you can even make a pit stop in Disneyworld, and then continue on to the Florida Keys.
Head North for the Summer
There are many notable stops to make in the northern part of the country, such as Yellowstone National Park and Mount Rushmore; however, Budget Living suggests changing it up and taking a drive around all five of the great lakes. This scenic drive will give you majestic views and ample choices of entertainment, including boating, parks, and lake swimming. If you opt for this choice, just make sure you have any documentation you need to get into Canada, and make sure not to miss Niagara Falls.
When it comes down to it, your road trip is what you make it. Even if you don’t make it to one of these exciting places, you can still have the time of your life if you commit to making the most of your time together. Crank the music and load up on the snacks, and your road trip is sure to be one to remember. As always, make sure to always drive defensively so that you can make it back home safe and sound.
