Never Underestimate the Value of a Small Car
July 18, 2013 | in Defensive Driving TipsWhen you head out to the car lot, you are surrounded by a lot of choices: big cars, small cars, rounded cars, and square cars. It is true that there is no shortage of options when it comes time to buy a car. One of the most underestimated types of cars out there is the small car. Small cars may sit lower on the road and be more prone to damage in an accident, but they have a lot of great traits to consider as well. Here are the main advantages to small cars over big ones:
They Are Cheaper
Okay, this one is pretty obvious, less car equals less money. However, the price difference can be so substantial that it is worth pointing out. Not only will you save money on your initial purchase, but you will also save money every week when you fill up your gas tank.
They Are Less Likely to Flip
It’s true; in a head-on collision small cars got the short-end of the stick. However, when it comes to the possibility of rolling over, small cars have this one in the bag. The less distance from the ground, the less likely the car will flip during a sudden or sharp turn or bad weather conditions.
They Are Easier to Maneuver
When you are driving through traffic, turning corners, or even just backing out of a parking spot, small cars are easier to maneuver. Easier maneuvering means a lower accident probability.
They Go Faster
We know you are always driving defensively and never, ever speed, but if you did, you could get going a lot faster in a smaller car. Just sayin’.
They Come With More Features
Okay, this one is a general statement: There are some big cars that come loaded up the wazoo. But overall, smaller cars have more luxury features and fancy gadgets than their bigger counterparts.
Compact Parking Spaces
Need we say more? More parking options, less aggravation, happy driver.
See? Small cars have a lot to offer. Whatever car you end up getting, always follow the laws of the road and drive defensively everywhere you go. It doesn’t matter what size of car you have if a cop pulls you over.
